Audubon Photo Club To Discuss Techniques For Preservation

On Thursday, November 12, at the next meeting of the Jamestown Audubon Photography Club, Chad Ecklof of Blue Screen Radio will demonstrate a technique using lights and a simple cardboard box to photograph old pictures, an alternative to scanning them.
He'll also show how to store the images digitally.
Eklof will bring with him a box that he has made in which he puts old printed pictures, and he will show how he takes pictures of them so they do not have to be scanned. He will describe how he assembles these in a digital format on a CD or DVD so they can be shared with others.
Ecklof will be the presenter during the 7 to 9 p.m. business meeting and program. The Photo Club's project time will be from 6:30 to 7 p.m. During the project time, members find a published nature picture and replicate it, taking the idea and making it their own. They bring the published picture and an 8x10 print of their work that will be critiqued by an expert.
Guests are welcome to the program and are asked to pay $5. The fee can be applied toward the annual membership dues of $25 if application is made by the next meeting. Among the benefits of membership are discounts on photography classes, special gifts and give-aways from sponsors, the right to show photos at club exhibits and 10 percent discount at several local businesses.
The Jamestown Audubon Photography Club meets at the Audubon Center and Sanctuary at 1600 Riverside Road, off Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren. For more information, call Suzette Paduano, club president, at 763-9492, e-mail Suzette-Paduano@yahoo.com or visit jamestownaudubon.org.
