Findley Lake Fire Hall To Host Cancer Benefit Sunday
FINDLEY LAKE - A benefit for cancer patient Tracey Messenger Cook will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at the fire hall.
Event organizer Carol Watson said Mrs. Cook resides in Findley Lake with her husband and five children and recently underwent treatment for cancer. Mrs. Cook's insurance will only pay for parts of the costs associated with the treatment and complications, however. That has left her in need of financial help, said Ms. Watson.
Mrs. Messenger has also needed to take time off from work both prior to and after the cancer treatment she required, said Ms. Watson.
"If you knew her, you would know if you were a stranger on the road and were hungry, needed anything, she would do that (provide help)," said Ms. Watson about Mrs. Cook. Originally from French Creek, Mrs. Cook attended Clymer schools for some time and then graduated in 1989 from a Corry, Pa. school.
The benefit will feature a spaghetti dinner and entertainment. "The Three Chrises" will perform. Tickets are $5 for adults (13 years old and older), $2 for those younger than 12-years-old. There will also be a bake sale and raffles.
Those who can not attend the benefit but would like to donate to Mrs. Cook's expenses can call Ms. Watson at 769-7232 or Bev Stanbro at 338-6266.
