Firefighter Russ Ferraloro gave out "high fives" during Lincoln Elementary School's annual fire prevention assembly. Jamestown's Engine Co. 3, and Lt. Bruce Anderson, fire prevention officer, talked about fire prevention and safety tips. Firefighters demonstrated their equipment, and how a firefighter may look and sound differently in their uniform, so that students would not be afraid of them in a fire. They discussed changing batteries in smoke detectors, having one special place outside of the house where all family members can meet in case of a fire, and the importance of never touching matches, lighters and candles as they are not toys. Lt. Matthew Coon and Firefighter Ron DeSantis also helped answer students' questions. The firefighters left fire prevention brochures for students and staff to take home.
