Audubon Center To Unveil New Exhibits
The Jamestown Audubon Center and Sanctuary will officially unveil its new Energy Exhibit at 10:45 a.m. Friday.
Made possible through a grant from the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, it will show how simple changes in the kinds of light bulbs we burn in homes and offices can make a drastic difference in electricity bills.
A grant from the Lenna Foundation and donations from Ahlstrom Schaeffer Electric Corporation in Jamestown and the Hite Company in Warren made Audubon's electric upgrades possible. The public is invited to join representatives of these organizations, its volunteers and board members for the exhibit's opening.
Also celebrated will be the re-opening of the Frog Exhibit that will take a whole wall in the Discovery Room. With frog sounds donated by Lang Elliott, the display's new computerized system will allow visitors to hear the peeps, groans, trills, snores and grunts of local frogs.
Visitors are welcome to stay for the First Friday Lunch Bunch meeting at 11 a.m. when photographer Skip Park will show spectacular images and videos of microscopic creatures - pond "monsters" - followed by a brown bag lunch at noon.
The Audubon Center and Sanctuary is at 1600 Riverside Road, off of Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren. For more information, call 569-2345 or visit jamestownaudubon.org.
