Panama Homecoming A Heartwarming Event
POSTED: November 3, 2009
To the Readers' Forum:
You didn't have to be a Panama alumni to experience the pride felt by the past Panama football players and other alumni during the homecoming game against Clymer on Oct. 3. hundreds of alumni, ages 18 to 86 came from miles away to celebrate their love of football. Jack Kenney, retired Panama football coach, alumni and numerous community members put together a heartwarming reunion. Panama School District continues to be a great place to work, live and raise a family. Panther Pride!

The more I think about it the more I cannot believe where people are coming from. To have an event where graduates from 1941 until 2009 come and celebrate their heritage is something to be proud of. What's next? High school reunions can't take place because rankings in the Business First are not good. Should we abolish proms, senior trips, homecoming dances or anything else that would be fun or memorable. Get a grip, I hope 10 years from now you don't look back and regret wasting so much time and energy focusing on all this negativity. If something like that doesn't make you the least bit nostalgic than you probably are not from around here..

Wow, an article like that can receive negative comments from negative Nancy. I guess the only real thing to be proud of is the Business First Ratings. Let's just stop doing everything else in school and concentrate on a Business First evaluation. Do we really know how they come up with those rankings or not. Panama held a meeting on data and how to use it and there were a total of 6. There were 315 at the volleyball playoff game that cost $4.00. There is more to a school than a Business First rating. By the way, everyone that attended the reunion really enjoyed seeing their classmates and coaches.

I know a number of recent grads that got scholarships to some pretty pricey, upscale colleges. It really is mostly about the individual and how much self discipline one has. Panama has it's problems to be sure, but this smear and hate campaign is getting old.

Yup. You're so proud, you can forget you're the next to the lowest ranking school in Chautauqua County. Go Panthers. Hope you get a football scholarship, cause you aren't going to college on an academic one.
