Lila M. Libby

FORESTVILLE - Lila M. Libby, 84, of Fluker Hill Road, Forestville, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at her residence. She was born in the town of Villenova on May 31, 1925, the daughter of the late Gifford and Anna (Perkins) Clement.

Mrs. Libby attended Forestville Central School and worked as a therapy aide for the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center, Helmuth, N.Y., for 28 years where she received an award for employee of the year. At one time, she and her late husband, Burton Libby, who died in 1986, owned and operated the family dairy farm on Fluker Hill Road. Mrs. Libby was a very active life member of the South Dayton Fire Belles, joining in 1966.

Survivors include four daughters: Diane (Brian) Bobseine of Gowanda, Nancy Work of Angola, Kathy (Gerd) Tabak of South Dayton, and Becky (Tom) Kuhs of Perrysburg; four sons: Gifford (Michele) Libby of Forestville, Wayne (Leah) Libby of Forestville, Larry (Tina) Libby of South Dayton, and Terry (Althea) Libby of Cherry Creek; two sisters: Viola Offhaus of Marilla and Lorna Kerr of South Dayton. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren: and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by an infant sister, Doris Clement; and by an infant great-granddaughter,Caitlyn Newcomb.

Friends are welcome to call at the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. from where funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11 a.m., with Fred Holdridge officiating. Interment will follow in Villenova Cemetery, South Dayton.
