ELLICOTT - Sally A. Jaroszynski, endorsed by the Democratic Party, is running for Ellicott town justice.
She is a lifelong resident of Ellicott and is the daughter of Jennie Ribaudo and the late Salvatore Ribaudo. While growing up, Ms. Jaroszynski worked for many years, starting at the age of 11, in the family owned restaurant and newsstand. After high school, she went on to pursue her higher education goals, graduating in 1989 from St. Bonaventure University with a bachelor of arts degree and then in 1992 from Ohio Northern University, Pettit College of Law with a juris doctorate degree.
She has been a practicing attorney in Chautauqua County for the past 17 years in both criminal and civil cases. She has dedicated her practice to representing victims of domestic violence and to children who have found themselves in the court system. She is currently employed with Legal Aid of the Chautauqua Region Inc. and private practice.
''I look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve our community in matters that affect our every day lives,'' Ms. Jaroszynski said. ''If elected as Ellicott town justice, I will continue to fight against domestic violence and violence against our children in our community. I will serve with dignity and act in a matter consistent with impartiality and integrity.''
Ms. Jaroszynski serves as a mediator for the Chautauqua County Child and Family Services Center for Resolution and Justice, is vice president of the Falconer Central School board and is a past troop leader for the local Girl Scouts program.
As a practicing attorney, she is a member of the Jamestown Bar Association, Chautauqua County Law Guardian Program and the Robert H. Jackson Inns of Court. In 2008, she was invited by Judge Sharon Townsend, former administrative judge of the Eighth Judicial District, to be a member of the Eighth Judicial District Pro-Bono Committee.
''With my legal education and 17 years experience as a practicing attorney, I will bring knowledge and fairness to the bench,'' she said.
Ms. Jaroszynski has been married to James Jaroszynski for 13 years. The couple has two daughters, ages 11 and 9.
