Baggiano Seeking Ellicott Council Seat

POSTED: October 22, 2009

Frank B. Baggiano will run for Ellicott Ward 1 councilman on Independence and Democratic lines to represent the village of Celoron and parts of West Ellicott during Nov. 3 elections.

Baggiano is a 30-year resident of Ellicott.

"It is truly a pleasure to live in this area and raise a family. It's important for us to protect our homes and neighborhoods. It is important to consider all the residents and listen to our neighbors and friends, the young couples who just moved in and especially our senior citizens on fixed incomes," he said.

Baggiano said a more comprehensive plan for zoning, housing violations and flooding issues for the town must be developed, and he thinks he can help.

"I believe that my expertise in dealing with government officials will assist me in solving the issues as they arise," he said.

Baggiano said he is a fiscal conservative who believes government can and should do a better job controlling spending and being held accountable for tax dollars they spend.

"If elected, I plan on being a proactive member of the board; I will not simply sit there and vote yes for every piece of legislation that is proposed," he said, adding he would ask questions and expect adequate answers, making himself accessible to constituents and planning to be held accountable to them.

A resident of Yolande Avenue, Baggiano and his wife, Julie, have two children. He is employed by the Hon. Judith S. Claire as the chief clerk of Chautauqua Family Court. He was previously employed at the senior investigator for the Chautauqua County public defender's office. He is a graduate of Jamestown High School, Jamestown Community College and the State University at Fredonia.

He has been a member of the IAABO board 39, Chautauqua Golf Club, Jamestown Lions Club, YMCA Board of Directors, Southwestern Soccer Club, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, Southwestern Central School Board.

He was recently recognized by the Salvation Army for his service with victims of Domestic Violence. He has been nominated for the New York State Office of Court Administration Quality Service Award and has been recognized by the Outstanding Young Men of America.
