ELLERY - Mildred J. Kesby, 81, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Erie.

She was born Jan. 19, 1928, in Westfield, the daughter of the late G. Leigh and Lena Murdock Rhinehart. She was a 1946 graduate of Bemus Point High School.

She was employed at the former Clark Box Factory of Jamestown and then as a domestic engineer, cleaning for many women in the Maple Springs and Bemus Point area including 20 years for Michael and Janis Walsh at Midway and more than 45 years and was still working for Barbara Schwartz of Bemus Point.

Mildred was a 65-year member of the Grange including the former Dewittville Grange, currently a member of the Ellery Grange, Pomona Grange, New York State Grange and National Grange. She was also a member of the Friendly Club, West Ellery Jolly Workers, Hobby Club, Bemus Point and Kennedy Senior Citizens and Dewittville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling with her daughters around the country. If the car was going, she was ready. She also enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens and crocheting.

Wife of 34 years to the late Roger Kesby, whom she married Oct. 1, 1949, and who died Jan. 29, 1984; mother of Linda, Lois and Vincent (Rita) Kesby, all of Bemus Point, and Helen (Arnold) Horth of Sloansville; grandmother of Michelle (Carl) Rice of Amsterdam, Jennifer (Birke) Stathers of Winchester, Md., Valerie (Brandon) Andrascik of Albany, Christina (Ernest) Minnick of Virginia Beach, Va., Sarah Kesby of Jamestown, and Jason (Heather) Horth of Corning; great-grandmother of Walter and David Stathers, Michael Smeraldo, Dylan Minnick and Victoria and Samantha Rice; sister of Robert (Margaret) of Ellington, Clifford ''Tip'' (Jeannie) Rhinehart of Bemus Point, and the late Walter, Seth and George (Joyce) Rhinehart.

Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Visitation 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Burial in Bemus Point Cemetery.
