Boys & Girls Club Awards Scholarships
The Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys & Girls Club of Jamestown has presented its 2009 Education Fund Scholarships and the Tony LeVoie Memorial Scholarship to several area students, all of whom are former Boys & Girls Club youth members pursuing full-time college or university studies.
The Boys & Girls Club Education Fund Scholarships offer $250 in financial assistance to be used for books or other expenses, for up to four years of full time study, making the total scholarship award up to $1000 per recipient.
The Tony LeVoie Memorial Scholarship offers a one-time award of $250.00 given in memory of Tony LeVoie, a long-time Aquatics Director of the local Boys & Girls Club.
Receiving freshman year Boys & Girls Club Education Fund scholarship awards are Mercedes Breen and Alexandra Frangione. Miss Breen is a 2009 graduate of Jamestown High School and the daughter of Sean Breen and Monica Payne. She is attending Jamestown Community College pursuing a degree in early childhood education. Miss Frangione is a 2009 graduate of Panama Central School and the daughter Tonya Taber and Jeff Frangione. She is also attending Jamestown Community College, pursuing a degree in art therapy.
Receiving sophomore year Education Fund Scholarships are Staci Hallberg, attending Ursuline College, and Alex Woleen, attending the State University at Morrisville. Receiving their junior year scholarship awards are Lydia Parsons, attending Houghton College, and Tarah Aipaolani, completing Jamestown Community College's nursing program.
Receiving their senior year awards and completing the four-year scholarship are Marijo Paterniti, attending Ithaca College, and Ellyn Smith, attending the College of Charleston.
Andrea Schmitt is the 2009 recipient of the Tony LeVoie Memorial Scholarship. Miss Schmitt is a 2009 graduate of Chautauqua Lake Central School and the daughter of Leslie and Steven Johnson. She is attending Ohio Northern University pursuing a degree in pharmacy.
Scholarship awards were presented at a ceremony attended by recipient family members, Boys & Girls Club staff and board members.
