CHERRY CREEK - Elwin David Green, 61, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at his home on Southside Avenue in Cherry Creek, N.Y.
He was born March 20, 1948, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of the late Howard G. and Ruth M. (Meyers) Green.
He did a lot of mechanical work around the Cherry Creek area and also did some truck driving.
Elwin was a member of the Cherry Creek Fire Department, Cherry Creek- Pine Valley VFW, South Dayton American Legion, Randolph American Legion and the Veterans of Modern Warfare. He served in the Army during Vietnam.
He is survived by his three sons: Shannon T. (Sarah) Green of Dunkirk, N.Y., Duane H. (Snoi) Green of Fort Drum, N.Y., and Robert E. Green of Conewango Valley, N.Y., a daughter; Jolene M. (Mike) Green of Jamestown, N.Y., Janet E. Green, his companion, of Cattaraugus, N.Y., 16 grandchildren and a sister, Nancy L. (Edward) Marsh of Little Valley, N.Y.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers: Larry H. Green, Robert D. Green, Paul G. Green, and his sister Joan A. Cross.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 3, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Hills Funeral Chapel, 478 Balcom Corners, South Dayton, N,Y. The Rev. Kenneth Pratt of the Cherry Creek Assembly of God will be officiating. Inurnment will be in the Cherry Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
