SINCLAIRVILLE - The Sinclairville 76ers is the meals on wheels program for the Cassadaga Valley area. The 76ers were formed in 1976 to organize senior housing and five years later, the meals on wheels program was started. There are more than 125 meals delivered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday on three different routes in three different vans by volunteers.

The meals are delivered to Cassadaga, Stockton, Sinclairville, Cherry Creek, Gerry, Conewango Valley and Ellington. The same meal is served at the luncheon site in the Sinclairville Firehall dining room on the same days of the week at noon.

Lucile Marsh is the luncheon site director. There are between 30 and 40 people who attend the luncheon site.

Last year, more than 21,000 meals were prepared and served by the Sinclairville 76ers. The 76ers is a part of the Chautauqua County Office for the Aging. Richard Smith of Sinclairville is the president of the organization, and expressed a special thank you to all of the volunteers. Patti France is the 76ers chef, assisted by Lisa Rangel and Mona Koterass.

Recently the annual summer picnic was held in the Sinclairville ballpark. Hot dogs and hamburgers were grilled by volunteer driver Paul Derkovitz, assisted by volunteer driver Ralph Hover. Many of the volunteers attended the picnic and brought their special dishes of food. Some of the new favorites included the broccoli and walnut salad by Martha Harmon, the fresh fruit salad by Sis Morley, and the homemade chocolate candy by Ainsley Smith. All dishes were wonderful and enjoyed by all. For more information on the Sinclairville 76ers, call 962-3455.
