EAST LAKE BR 13-15 PLAYOFFS

Gold Star picked up a second-round victory with a 12-8 win over Community Bank/Allied Fire.

For Gold Star Tyler Uber produced two hits, Nick Baglia doubled and Uber, Riley Smith and Jake Sisson combined to throw a four- hitter with 14 strikeouts.

For Community Bank/Allied Fire, Tyler LaMonica slammed a home run, Devon Cameron added two hits and Mike Alexander doubled.

Gold Star moves on to play South Dayton in the quarterfinals at Diethrick Park at noon Sunday, followed by the Falconer Firemen and Frewsburg at 3 p.m. The finals are set for 6 p.m.

CHURCH LEAGUE

SOFTBALL

St. James cruised past Ellery Baptist, 17-1, with Mark Cobbe slamming a triple, double and a single. Carl Liuzzo tripled and T.J. Weimer, Joe Shields and Joe Robbins each added a double.

The GA Lions of the North downed Gloria Dei, 14-4.

For the winners, Jeremy Smathers and Ryan Andrews both slammed a triple, double and a single, Mike Diethrich added a triple and two singles, Destiny Reukauf delivered three singles, Duane Carlson had a double and a single, Rob Gardner doubled and Jimmy Lundsten was the winning pitcher.

For Gloria Dei, Curt Zdunski doubled, Dan Smith contributed three hits, Mary Fales had two hits and George Wesson drilled a double and a single.
