The Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena will see at least two more big-name concert events before the year is through, as both Kenny Rogers and Michael W. Smith will reportedly be playing the area sports and events center this December and October, respectively.
Continuing to build on its successful shows, which have included Aaron Tippin and Clint Black, the Ice Arena will host the rock groups Yes and Asia next Saturday - as well as Kenny Rogers and Michael W. Smith later this year.
Rogers has had more than 70 hit singles chart in the United States across a variety of music genres. He is best known for his country music. Michael W. Smith is a Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and one of the best-selling and most influential artists in contemporary Christian music.
On Friday, the Ice Arena announced it will hold a 1:30 p.m. press conference Monday to unveil its next major concert event. It is expected that the event which Ice Arena officials will be announcing is the local Rogers performance.
According to Pollstar.com, Kenny Rogers will play the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena on Thursday, Dec. 10. The Michael W. Smith concert is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 9, according to www.jsbia.com.
Founded in 1981, Pollstar is the world's largest resource for international concert tour information. As a member of the Associated Press, Pollstar is frequently cited in news reports covering the music business and concert performances.
Though listed on Pollstar.com, the Dec. 10 Kenny Rogers date at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena is not yet listed on KennyRogers.com, the artist's official Web site. Attempts made by The Post-Journal to contact Rogers' representatives for confirmation were not returned Friday. Similarly, attempts to confirm the performance with the ice arena were not returned.
The Dec. 10 date falls between Rogers' appearances in Verona, N.Y. and West Point, N.Y. - both of which are a part of his 2009 Christmas and hits tour.
