KIANTONE - Ralph B. Haller, 86, of 1181 Kian-tone Drive, went to rejoin his loving wife on Wednes-day, July 1, 2009.

A longtime area resident, and current Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing resident, he was born Sept. 1, 1922 in Warren, Pa., the son of Carl and Lillian Birdessa Schell Haller.

He was a World War ll U.S. Army veteran serving from March 1943 to March 1946, and was elected as-sessor for the town of Kian-tone in 1951, and in 1969 became the sole assessor for the Towns of Ellicott and Carroll along with the vil-lages of Falconer and Celoron. He held the pro-fessional designation of A.O. and was awarded the Professional Assessor Award from the New York State Assessors Associa-tions of which he served on the executive board and numerous committees. He was a certified instructor for the State Board of Equali-zation and Assessment and taught numerous seminars at Cornell and many one- day seminars throughout western New York.

He was a member of the Kiantone Congregational Church and life member of the Kiantone Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Car-roll Lodge 1147 F&AM, where he was past master in 1970 and held honorary Masonic degrees of York Cross of Honor, Red Cross of Constantine, Royal Arch Chapter 67, Dunkirk Coun-cil 25, Royal and Select Masters, and Jamestown Commandry 61. Besides holding these positions, he was a former member of the Jamestown Consistory, Ismalia Temple Shrine, past member and chairman of the Kiantone Planning Board, and former Chapter Dad for Chautauqua Chapter DeMaloy, and in earlier years, was constable for the town of Kiantone.

Ralph is survived by two sons: Allen (Judith), and Michael (Debra) Haller of Jamestown, twin daughters: Anne (Gary Prusik) Ohlsson of New Mexico, Alice (James) Paige of Bemus Point; four granddaughters: Kerry Dove, Megan Phanthasay, Sonya Ohls-son, and Janel Paige, four grandsons: Stephen, Richard, and Christopher Haller, and Matthew Ohls-son; great-granddaughter, Aleasha Haller; six great-grandsons: Kyle, Cody, and Zachary Haller, Addison and Kaden Dove, Ethan Phanthasay; and a sister, Norma Cable of Russell, Pa.

He was predeceased by his wife, Alice Perry Haller, whom he married June 15, 1946, in Stillwater EUB Church, and who died June 26, 2008; two brothers: Claude and Leland Haller; and two sisters: Ruth Anderson and Joyce Lawrence Smith.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Kiantone Congregational Church. The Rev. Mel McGinnis, pastor, will offi-ciate. Burial will be in Ki-antone Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Peter-son Funeral Home, Frews-burg, where a Masonic ser-vice will be held at 12:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Kiantone Fire Department, Kiantone Ma-ple Grove Cemetery Asso-ciation, Kiantone Congre-gational Church or the Car-roll Lodge Trust Fund.
