Suzanne Gould
Suzanne Gould of Smith-field, N.C., formerly of Jamestown, N.Y., died in her home on Sunday, June 21, Father's Day 2009. She was born in Jamestown, N.Y., on April 22, 1953, the third daughter and sixth child of Frank Jesse Gould Jr., and M. Jane Gould of Jamestown. She was the granddaughter of the late Ransford Ray Gould and Clara Jacqueline Gould of Brainerd, Minn., Round Lake, Minn., and Kiantone, N.Y., and Frank J. Gould Sr. and Helen Prest Gould of St. Paul, Minn.
Ms. Gould attended a college preparatory board-ing high school in Fari-bault, Minn., and graduated from St. Mary's Hall in 1971, now known as Shattuck-St. Mary's School, where she excelled in French and the study of natural sciences. She at-tended the universities of Minnesota, Montana, and New York.
In her youth, Ms. Gould was an avid and accom-plished downhill skier, horsewoman, and natural-ist. She was a lifetime devo-tee of many canine friends, most notably, Jake and Amber, her beloved Dober-man Pinshers.
In the 1980s, she found-ed, owned and operated Planters' Point, a successful greenhouse retail business in Kiantone, N.Y. She was most recently employed as a nurse with the Johnston Correctional Facility in Smithfield, N.C.
Ms. Gould was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ransford Ray Gould II in 1962; and her oldest sister, Jacqueline Gould Johnson in 2008. She is survived by sisters: Michele Gould Murray of Jamestown, N.Y., and Janette Gould Martin, of Faribault, Minn.; and brothers: Frank ''Jay'' Gould III of Ashville, N.Y., Scott P. Gould of James-town, N.Y., and Joel W. Gould of Ft. Mill, S.C.
Her loss is also especial-ly grieved by her nieces: Laurel M. Dalrymple of the Azores, Portugal, Sarah E. Downey of Jamestown, N.Y., Jolene Kendall Gould of Washington, D.C., Mi-kinna R. Martin of James-town, and Faribault, and Jeannine Mills of Citra, Fla.; and her nephews: Dr. Nathan W. Duncan-Gould of Urbana-Champaign; Ill., Dr. Dustin G. Martin of Grand Junction, Colo., Caleb Gould Martin of Jamestown, N.Y., and Bryon E. Johnson, Frank ''Jesse'' Gould IV and Ransford Ray Johnson, all of Ashville, N.Y.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 3, at the Audubon So-ciety, 1600 Riverside Road, Jamestown, N.Y. 14701. Memorials may be made to the Audubon So-ciety.
