POSTED: June 25, 2009

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

Robert J. Courson Jr., 23, of Jamestown was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain lane following a traffic stop around 2:56 a.m. Wednesday. Police report that a Stop DWI patrol saw Courson Jr. pull away from the curb on North Main Street without using a signal, and further allege he was driving between lanes. He was pulled over and allegedly found to be intoxicated. He was processed and released with an appearance ticket.

Brandon J. Walker, 28, of Jamestown was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest Wednesday morning after police were called to a Maple Street home to investigate a dispute. Police say that during the investigation, Walker became upset and was yelling obscenities. They also say that despite multiple warnings to calm down, Walker remained angry and he pulled away from officers as he was being placed in handcuffs. Police say they then took him to the ground and after a short struggle took him into custody. He was taken to the city jail where he was held without bail awaiting arraignment.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

KIANTONE - Robert A. Kost Jr., 29, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal contempt and Alex P. Kost, 21, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief Wednesday. Deputies were called to their Sturdevant Road home around 12:30 a.m. for a reported dispute and both Kosts were taken into custody. While being arraigned in Kiantone Town Court, Robert Kost Jr., allegedly became disorderly and started swearing at the judge and fighting with a deputy, resulting in the criminal contempt charge. Both men were taken to the Chautauqua County Jail.

A Jamestown man was injured Tuesday after he crashed his motorcycle on Dutch Hollow Road around 3:30 p.m. Deputies reported that Scott L. Schilling, 36, of Durant Avenue, Jamestown, lost control of his motorcycle while going around a curve and went off the right side of the road. When his motorcycle tipped over he suffered a lower leg injury and was taken to WCA Hospital by Ellery Center firefighters for treatment. The investigation is ongoing, deputies said.

PENNSYLVANIA STATE POLICE

GLADE TOWNSHIP - Devon G. Moore Sr., 40, of Warren, Pa., was charged with making terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment Monday, after he allegedly threatened a 39-year-old woman and injured her. He was taken into custody, arraigned and sent to the Warren County Jail where he is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

CONEWANGO TOWNSHIP - Rodney W. Rowland, 30, of Youngsville, Pa., was charged with careless driving after he fell asleep at the wheel and crashed his car on Monday on Route 6. Police say he was traveling east on Route 6 when he fell asleep and his 1994 Honda Civic crossed both westbound lanes, struck a guard rail, and continued on about 35 feet where it hit a wooden sign belonging to the Brookside Restaurant. The Honda continued on another 65 feet through a creek before finally coming to rest. Rowland sustained only minor injuries, in part, according to troopers, because he was wearing his seat belt. Troopers were assisted by the Youngsville Fire Department on the scene.

PINE GROVE TOWNSHIP- No one was injured when the brakes failed on a 2000 Dodge Caravan that was attempting to stop for a flag man in a construction zone Monday around 3:15 p.m. Troopers say the van's driver, 18-year-old Thomas Byler of Russell, Pa., steered the out-of-control van to the right of the stopped cars, taking it down the berm to avoid injuring anyone. The van struck a mailbox, a small tree and came to a stop when it hit a utility pole. Byler and his passenger were uninjured in the accident and no charges were filed.
