Emma M. Nalbone, 101, of the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of 87 Barrett Ave., died Friday, June 19, 2009, in WCA Hospital.

She was born Feb.14, 1908, in Anita, Pa., a daughter of Vincent and Josephine Sperlazza Bruna-cini, and has lived in Jamestown since 1916.

As a young mother of five children, she survived a hit and run accident,was in a body cast for many months and endured many surgical procedures in the years thereafter.

Emma was well known for her wonderful cooking, love of reading, quilting and needlework. Her sense of humor and easy going nature made her well loved by family, friends and care-takers. She enjoyed being visited by family members and her easy smile will be missed by many.

She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary So-ciety, Catholic Daughters of America, Earl Morley Post 1036 Auxiliary World War I Veterans from 1964 to 1992, having been a past president, Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of World War I, Self Help for the Hard of Hearing, Speech and Lip Reading Group and SS Peter and Paul School Mothers Club.

Surviving are three chil-dren: Carol Van Epps of Annapolis, Md., Dr. Vin-cent Nalbone of James-town, and Peter Nalbone Jr. of Mount Holly, N.C.; 15 grandchildren: Gina Van Epps, Valerie Thomas and Susan Mohr of Florida, Steven Nalbone of James-town, Dr. Vincent Nalbone of Las Vegas, Nev., John Nalbone of Idaho Springs, Colo., Dr. James Nalbone of Delmar, N.Y., Dr. David Nalbone of Valparaiso, Ind., Patricia Lindquist of Jamestown, Michael Nal-bone of Phoenix, Ariz., Shell Short of Yucca Valley,Calif., Mary Jo Skinner of Duarte, Calif., Catherine Nalbone of Show Low, Ark., Andrew Nalbone of Mount Holly and Peter Nalbone of Harrisburg, Pa.; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Rose Worden of Jamestown, and Della DeMaio of Williamsville, N.Y.; two brothers: James Brunacini of Albuquerque, N.M. and Joseph Brunacini of Jamestown; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Peter J. Nalbone, whom she mar-ried June 23, 1928, and who died Dec.19, 1969; two sons: Charles and John Nalbone; two sisters: Rose Brunacini and Mary Rix; and four brothers Samuel, Charles, John and George Brunacini.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Christ Chapel of the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center, 715 Falconer St., Jamestown. A private Buri-al will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received in Fine Dining Room of the Lutheran Home following the service for the celebration of her life.
