SINCLAIRVILLE - Myrtie B. Overend, 91, formerly of Thornton Road, Cherry Creek, and Charlotte Villa, Sinclairville, died Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Heritage Village Skilled Nursing and Rehab, Gerry.
Born Dec. 22, 1917, in Randolph, daughter of the late Roland and Ruth Roberts Ormsby, she was a 1937 graduate of Randolph High School, and lifetime resident of Cattaraugus and Chautauqua County.
A homemaker, Myrtie also enjoyed, Bingo, playing cards and doing crafts. Most of all she treasured time with her family.
Wife of the late Howard Overend, whom she married April 15, 1939, and died Jan. 11, 1973; mother of Howard (Tammy) Overend of Clarendon, Pa., Evelyn (Matt Cardillo) Bjers of Sharon, Vt., Betty (John) Burger of Kennedy and the late Nancy (Waid) Terrill; grandmother of Ronald Terrill of Mid West City, Okla, Denise Donovan of East Dorset, Vt., Michael Mount of Claremont, N.H., Daniel Mount of Sophia, N.C., Dawn Khan of Vt., Eric (Tammy Sawyer) Overend of Cherry Creek, and Teresa VanHouten of Sinclairville; great-grandmother of 25; great-great-grandmother of five; sister of the late Dorothy McBride, Viola Fuss, Margaret Michaelson, Lillian Walker, Lawrence, Leo and Roland Ormsby Jr.
Funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Visitation 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Burial in Cherry Creek Central Cemetery.
