JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
On Friday, police charged five people during a quality-of-life patrol. Charged were Porter M. Jones, 26, who was taken into custody on two outstanding city of Buffalo warrants; Jason D. Smith, 35, who was charged with unnecessary noise and will appear in the Jamestown City Court at a later date; Aaron J. Graham, 26, who was charged on two outstanding Jamestown City Court bench warrants and charged with criminal impersonation for allegedly giving officers a false name, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and several traffic violations; David W. Dean, 27, taken into custody for two outstanding Jamestown City Court bench warrants and for allegedly being a fugitive from justice from Erie, Pa.; and Jessica L. Hunzinger, 28, charged on an outstanding Jamestown City Court bench warrant.
Lucinda I. Tobias, 38, of Jamestown was charged with driving while ability impaired by the combined effects of drugs or alcohol and any drug or drugs Saturday after she was stopped on Prendergast Avenue because her vehicle's lights were allegedly off. Police discovered that Ms. Tobias had consumed alcohol and was impaired by drugs. A prior DWI conviction was also discovered, which upgraded the initial misdemeanor charge to a felony charge. She was arrested and taken to the Jamestown Police City Jail and was arraigned in Jamestown City Court.
Reinaldo Fontanez, 40, of Jamestown was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, no turn signal and failure to keep right Sunday. Police observed a vehicle driven by Fontanez turn off Institute Street onto Harrison Street without using a turn signal. The vehicle then took a wide right turn onto Winsor Street from Harrison Street, failing to keep right. Officers stopped the vehicle on Winsor Street, where they discovered Fontanez was allegedly intoxicated and charged him with driving while intoxicated. Police say a test revealed that Fontanez's blood alcohol content was higher than .08 percent.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
Paula M. Tanis, 52, of Angola was charged with DWI, failure to signal turn and failure to maintain lane on Friday after deputies stopped her for failure to signal and failure to maintain her lane. After an investigation, deputies found Ms. Tanis was intoxicated. She was given appearance tickets and will be in the Town of Hanover court at a later date.
Cory S. Thompson, 22, of Randolph was charged with felony DWI and moving unsafely from his lane on Friday after deputies stopped him on Interstate 86 in the town of Poland for crossing over the fog line. After an investigation, deputies found Thompson was intoxicated. He was arraigned in the town of Poland court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail.
Richard L. Ellis, 46, of Ashville was charged with failure to comply, DWI and blood alcohol content over .08 percent Sunday. The Lakewood-Busti Police Department was investigating a domestic violence incident in which Ellis was the suspect. After allegedly failing to stop for police when they attempted to stop him on Route 394, Ellis was apprehended at his residence and turned over to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department. Police say he was driving while intoxicated and was taken into custody. He will appear in the North Harmony Town Court at a later date.
LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE DEPARTMENT
Martin R. Dinday, 61, of Lakewood was charged Sunday after police noticed a vehicle traveling down the middle of Hunt Road. Police stopped the vehicle and allege Dinday was intoxicated. Dinday was charged with failure to keep right and driving while intoxicated. He will appear in the town of Busti court at a later date.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE
Tyler L. McMaster, 34, of Bemus Point was charged Saturday after several teenagers were allegedly drinking alcohol at his home on Dutch Hollow Road. Police say McMaster was home at the time of the incident and was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in the town of Ellery court at a later date.
TOWN OF ELLICOTT POLICE DEPARTMENT
Robert A.J. Porter, 17, of Celoron was charged with petit larceny on Friday. Police responded to the parking lot of Home Depot on a report of youths looking into vehicle windows and attempting to enter the vehicles. Porter was located in a wooded area near the parking lot and was allegedly found to be in possession of several dollars of loose change and a carton of cigarettes that he had allegedly taken from a vehicle in the parking lot. He was arraigned in Ellicott Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail pending bail.
James G. Francis, 49, of Jamestown was charged with felony DWI per se, DWI, issuing a false statement and failure to maintain lane on Saturday. Police responded to a vehicle in a ditch on Gerry Levant Road where, after an investigation, they allege Francis was intoxicated and had driven his vehicle into the ditch. Police say Francis gave a false statement to police regarding the incident. He was arraigned in Ellicott Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail.
