Onalee C. Shelley

Beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother

Onalee C. Shelley, 75, of 126 W. Main St., Cuba, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009, in Cuba Memorial Hospital's Palliative Care Unit, after a sudden illness.

She was born Jan. 25, 1934, in Cuba, the daughter of Alfred H. and Edna M. Williams Cummins. On April 3, 1953, in Cuba, she married John S. Shelley who survives.

Mrs. Shelley liked gardening, was an avid reader, selfless caregiver and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cuba.

She is survived by her father, Alfred H. Cummins of Cuba; a son, Lindsey J. (Mereda) Shelley of Randolph; three daughters: Lynn M. (Bob) Ivey of Olean, Lori (Guy) Mann of Cuba, and Lisa (Rob) Curtin of Bradford; grandchildren: Justin, Shelley, Erick Shelley, Bridget (Gail) Hamilton, Brandon (Teri) Hamilton, Joshua (Patty) Rhow, Seth Rhow, Lorrae Weinstein, Andrew Hammack, Mollie Curtin and Shelby Curtin; great-grandchildren: Jacob Hamilton, Caleb Hamilton, Joshua Rhow and Abigail Wein-stein; two brothers: Steven (Mickey) Cummins, Friendship, and Alfred ''Dick'' Cummins Munnsville, N.Y.; a sister, Patricia Harding, Cuba; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Services, Inc., 9 Bull St., Cuba, on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, June 4, 2009, from 10 a.m. to noon, at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Larry A. Poelma, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Cuba, will officiate.

Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba, N.Y.
