Police say she was caught stealing several articles of clothing from Sears. Further investigation found she was in possession of property from the Deb Shops, which she allegedly had stolen earlier. She was issued a court appearance ticket and will appear in court at a later date.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

IRVING - A personal-injury accident occurred on Route 5 in the town of Hanover on Thursday. Initial investigation determined David A. Poncharik, 26, of Dunkirk was operating his vehicle eastbound on Route 5 near the Allegheny Road intersection while Lee T. Adams, 87, of Forestville was at the light waiting to turn onto Allegheny Road. Adams made the left turn and collided with Poncharik's vehicle. Poncharik continued into the intersection, where his vehicle struck that of Elliott Tallchief, 68, of Irving. Poncharik and a passenger in his vehicle were transported to Lakeshore Hospital for treatment, while all other parties at the scene refused treatment. The investigation is ongoing.

RIPLEY - Andrew R. Dunlap, 24, of Ripley was charged with third-degree assault after he was allegedly involved in a verbal altercation with a female in the town around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Dunlap allegedly pushed the female to the ground. The female was taken to Westfield Memorial Hospital, where it was determined she sustained a substantial injury from the fall. Deputies located Dunlap and charged him. He will appear in court at a later date.

RIPLEY - Harley D. Morse, 20, of Sherman was charged with having a loud exhaust, having a cracked windshield, driving an uninspected vehicle, driving without insurance and driving after consuming alcohol while under the age of 21 on Sunday. Deputies pulled Morse over for having a loud exhaust, and a subsequent investigation led to the other charges. He will be in Ripley Town Court later.

WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT

Mark N. Sam, 44, of Westfield was taken into custody on a warrant charging him with second and third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal contempt Wednesday, after police were alerted that he was at his home on Union Street. Police say they arrived at the home and he turned off all the lights and locked the doors, but once he was spotted, his daughter and her friend exited the rear of the home and told police that he was inside. He was found hiding under the basement stairs and taken into custody. He was turned over to the Fredonia Police Department which held the active warrant.
