E. Joyce Chase

CHERRY CREEK - E. Joyce Chase, 83, of Cherry Creek, died Thursday, May 14, 2009, in her home.

Born July 30, 1925, in Sinclairville, daughter of the late Fay and Flossie Ridout Lewis. She was a 1943 graduate of Cassada-ga Valley Central School.

Joyce had been em-ployed at Quality Markets and Langless Auction in Cherry Creek, was self-employed as a cake decorator, and also assisted with the family farm.

She served the town of Cherry Creek as tax collec-tor and historian for many years, and was also active on the Cherry Creek Cen-tral Cemetery Commission, Cherry Creek Business As-sociation, 4H volunteer with sewing and cooking and enjoyed quilting.

Wife of 64 years to the late Ernest E. Chase, whom she married May 20, 1944; mother of, Ronald (late Karen) and Donald (Dollie) Chase, all of South Dayton, Linda (Junior) Breemes of Perrysburg, Kathleen (Ran-dy) Colburn and Ken (Cathy) Chase, all of Cher-ry Creek; grandmother of 16; great-grandmother of 23; great-greatgrandmother of one; sister of Audrey Prosser of Sinclairville, Shirley Herron of Frews-burg, Darwin (Marilyn) Lewis of Kiantone, and the late Wayne Lewis.

Funeral service 1 p.m. Sunday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Visita-tion 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Burial in Cherry Creek Central Cemetery.

Memorials to Roswell Park Cancer Institute or a book in Joyce's memory to the Pine Valley Elementary Library.
