WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT
A 14-year-old Westfield youth was charged with second-degree burglary, petit larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property Wednesday following an investigation into a incident on Dec. 18, 2008. Police say they received a complaint of a broken window at a Bourne Street residence, owned by village residents who travel for the winter. The owners had a family member go through the residence, but were unable to determine if anything was missing. When the homeowners came home in April, they learned that several items were indeed missing and called the police again. With the assistance of the sheriff's department, some of the stolen items were recovered from the youth's bedroom, and he was given an appearance ticket for Family Court due to his age.
