James S. Edington Sr.

James S. Edington Sr., 70, of 3 E. Chadakoin St., Celoron, died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday (April 30, 2009), in his home.

A lifelong area resident, he was born March 19, 1939, in Falconer, the son of the late Fred F. and Mary Jane Pangborn Edington.

Jim attended Falconer High School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1958 to 1961 in Germany. He was employed by Wilbert Burial Service retiring in 2001.

He was a member of the American Legions in Lakewood, Celoron and Falconer, and was also a member of the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association.

Surviving are his wife, Diane J. Moon Edington, whom he married Oct. 27, 1958 in Warren, Pa.; three sons: James S. Edington Jr. of Lakewood, Mark (Danielle) Edington of Virginia, and Gregory Edington of Celoron; a daughter, Vicki (Dan) Spallino of Russellton, Pa.; three grandchildren: Jessica, Justin and Heather Edington; three brothers: Robert Edington of Cherry Creek, George Edington of Falconer, and Thomas Edington of Stockton; and two sisters: Pauline Schoing of Erie, Pa., and Charlotte Markham of Jamestown.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Edington; and three sisters: Virginia Parrett, Esther Bartells and Ruby Sadaquist.

No funeral service or visitation will be observed.
