FREDONIA - Kevin P. Cloos has been named the new State University at Fredonia facilities services director, following the merger of the Facilities Management Department with the Building Services and Grounds Department.
The major focus of the new department is to provide efficient, quality support services to the Fredonia campus; to plan, create and maintain the outstanding physical appearance of the campus both inside and outside; and support the overall mission of Fredonia with a team of maintenance and cleaning staff working to provide clean, safe and well-maintained facilities.
Cloos will work closely with five assistant directors in providing leadership to a custodial and maintenance staff of more than 140 employees, which include custodial, structural trades, grounds and landscaping, electrical shop, heating plant, plumbing shop, refrigeration, energy management and office staff.

A Fredonia native, Cloos is a 1989 graduate of Fredonia High School and a 1994 graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, from which he earned a degree in civil engineering technology.
Cloos received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service in 2003 and has served as director of building services and Grounds at Fredonia since 2003. He serves on numerous campus committees as well, including its sustainability, emergency preparedness, construction coordinators, and commencement committees, among others. Prior to 2003, he was assistant director of facilities management for structural trades, grounds and Garage from 1999 until 2003. He returned to the Fredonia region in 1998, joining the university following a four-year period as a project manager for various firms within the greater Rochester construction industry to start his career.
Cloos and his wife, Sharon, have three children. In his spare time, he volunteers as a coach for Fredonia Little League Baseball.
