Arnold ‘‘Tom’’ Swan

Arnold ''Tom'' Swan, 90, formerly of West Ellicott, passed away Thursday (Jan. 1, 2009) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born March 18, 1918 in Jasper, N.Y., the son of Andrew and Blanche Drake Swan.

Tom graduated from Jasper High School in 1936 and Mohawk Valley Community College in 1938. He also received a business degree from the Elmira Business School.

Mr. Swan was a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army stationed in the Philippines, during World War II.

For many years, he worked in the business office at Cornell University. Upon moving to Lakewood, he was a financial advisor for Flexible Planning in Jamestown.

He is survived by his son, Jeffrey T. Swan of 13 Clark St., Lakewood, N.Y.; and two grandsons: Zachary T. Swan and Jacob A. Swan, both of Lakewood.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Zoda Swan who passed away June 5, 1982; and his daughter, Kathy L. Swan, who passed away April 2, 1992.

Mr. Swan requested that no funeral service or visitation be observed.

Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
