Employees at WCA Hospital recently donated several boxes of food collected during the hospital's annual Holiday Tea to several city food pantries, including St. Susan's Center, The Rescue Mission, the Joint Neighborhood Project and the Salvation Army Pantry.
''As we approach the winter months and holiday season, WCA recognizes the tremendous need for food at the local soup kitchens and food pantries,'' said Betsy T. Wright, WCA Hospital president and chief executive officer. ''We are fortunate to be part of an organization that believes in making a positive difference where we live and work. This effort reflects WCA's commitment to addressing community need through worthwhile charitable causes, in a community we are so privileged to serve.''
WCA Hospital employs more than 1,300 employees and is Southwestern New York's largest not-for-profit health care provider. Employees at WCA are active members of the community, supporting charitable organizations and volunteering at area food and soup kitchens.
''We have a family atmosphere here at WCA,'' said Daniel Johnson, WCA Hospital rehabilitation services director and coordinator of the holiday tea and food drive. ''We feel we are fortunate and we wanted to reach out to our community and help those in need. In the long run, we realize everyone benefits.''
