Rehearsals have begun for Jamestown Community College's production of Peter Pan, which opens Nov. 7 in Scharmann Theatre.

The cast includes JCC students, local children, and community members. Portraying Peter is Kira Chadwick of Randolph. Corey Osborne of Panama portrays Captain Hook. Also in the cast are: Lauren Barmore of Ashville; Lars Benson of Bemus Point; Michael Earle of Falconer; Katie Hoca of Gowanda; Elisa Berry, Caitlin Cusimano, Ashley Eck, Kelsey Flanders, Zane Franco, Matthew Freeman, Ryan Freeman, Nicholas Gonzalez, Tilor Hallquist, Phillip Hatfield, Rylie Loomis, Emma Kate Martin, Rachel Querreveld, D'yavion N. Rosario, Tanisha Thayer, Jay Vaccaro, Matthew Warren, and Derek Weese of Jamestown; Hannah Stein, Alora Sherbert, Annabella Prieto, Chloe Peters, Mehvish Khan, Adam Hughes, Seppe Hoose, Chris Eklund, and Amanda Costanzo of Lakewood; and Michael Parker of Mayville.

ZFX, a professional flying company, has been hired to do the stage rigging. It is the same company which handled the flying in the Peter Pan productions featuring former gymnast Cathy Rigby.

The musical, with lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden, and Adolph Green and music by Mark Charlap and Jule Styne, was adapted from James M. Barrie's stage play. First produced on Broadway with Mary Martin and Cyril Richard and more recently with Cathy Rigby, it has become one of the world's most celebrated musicals.

In the story, Peter flies in through the window of the Darling family nursery and takes the three children, Wendy, John, and Michael, on an adventure to Neverland where they encounter Captain Hook, pirates, Indians, mermaids, fairies, and a gang of Lost Boys.

Peter Pan is directed by Robert Schlick, with technical direction by Steven Gustafson and choreography by Nicole TenEyck. The rehearsal pianist is Carol Svensen-Smith and Anne Eklund is vocal coach. Mary Anne Harp will conduct the orchestra.

Several matinee and evening performances are scheduled Nov. 7-22. Tickets are available at JCC's box office, 338-1187. Pre-sale prices are $12, general admission; $10, senior citizens and area students; and $6, JCC Faculty Student Association members and children 12 and under. Tickets at the door will be $14, general admission; $12, senior citizens and area students; and $6, FSA members and children 12 and under.
