September 21, 2008
By Benjamin Klein bklein@post-journal.com

Glass America has opened a new auto glass repair shop at 512 W. Eighth St. in Jamestown. The grand opening marks the 94th Glass America repair shop to open throughout the country.

Bob Leonard, manager and installer for Glass America, has worked in the auto glass repair industry for 21 years. Leonard began working in Pittsburgh as an auto glass installer, then went on to manage auto glass repair shops in Rochester and Youngstown, Ohio. For the past 10 years, Leonard has been installing glass in the Jamestown area.

''Glass America has been open since 1999. We've been looking to expand in this area and grow to be big enough to cover the whole county,'' Brenda Nickerson, sales representative, said.

Glass America offers auto glass repair and replacement, including windshield repair and replacement. Also included are a wide variety of value-added services, such as certified technicians, free mobile service, same-day service on auto glass replacement, free lifetime warranty and approval from major insurance companies.

''I think its great that they've elected to locate here in the city of Jamestown,'' Steve Centi, city development director, said. ''It's a business that fits into the area. It was a vacant building, and now it's a viable business. I think it's great. We're happy to be here to help get this going off the ground.''

Glass America can be reached at 720-4336 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers emergency service on Saturday if needed.
