Stergioula Roufos Verleni, 78, of 105 Front St., died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, in WCA Hospital.

She was born April 19, 1930, in Florina, Greece, a daughter of the late Dimitrios and Patrula Demko Roufos.

She was employed by The Post-Journal in the mailroom and earlier had worked for Crouse Irving Hospital while living in Syracuse.

She was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and its Erene Society. She was also a member of the Falconer Moose Lodge.

She was a loving wife, mother and Yia Yia.

Surviving are her husband, Gust P. Verleni with whom she celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 27, 2008; children: Vanessa (Mark C.) Elia of Canandaigua, N.Y., Connie (Timothy P.) Burns of Jamestown, Patricia (Kenneth P.) Felton of Lockport, NY and Gust P. (Amanda S.) Verleni Jr., of Jamestown; four grandchildren: Ellen V. and Michael J. Burns of Jamestown and John R. and Victoria Estelle Elia of Canandaigua.

Besides her parents and stepmother Efterpie Roufos, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Vasilo Ziogas, Ourania Argiriou and Eleni Drouris; and a brother, Kostandinos Roufos.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.

Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Trisagion Prayer Service will be led at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
