The Mayville Senior Citizens Club will meet by reservation for a chicken barbecue at 12 p.m. Saturday at the Mayville VFW. The VFW Men's Auxiliary will cater the Saturday meal.
Fifty members met recently in the VFW picnic pavilion. Hot dogs were prepared by Larry and Virginia Scriven and Bob and Nancy Cole assisted by Louise Richer, Alma Shepard and Eleanor Cornelious. Casseroles and desserts were provided by the members
Virginia Scriven offered a blessing for the day and meal before the seniors enjoyed the picnic fare.
Mrs. Scriven read ''Stars and Stripes,'' ''Notes from a Church Bulletin,'' ''Blessings Overwhelm Us'' and led the group in prayer.
Izetta Ayling, secretary, read the minutes and correspondences, and Edna Brown, treasurer, gave her report.
Jim Kurtz had no Senior Council report.
L. Gladys Savage, goodwill chair, stated she had sent numerous get well wishes, thinking of you cards and sympathy cards to members. She noted three life members celebrated birthdays in August. They were Margaret Lehman, Caroline Ellsworth and Ruth Patterson. Others with birthdays included Juanita Geering, Nancy Cole, Morris Crandall, Alice Paulus, Pauline Wright, Victor Harris, Mary Carlson, Francis Himelein, Geneva Horne, Sylvia Colby, Louise Richer, Agnes Briggs, Joyce Ayres and Dorothy Krause. Anniversaries were celebrated by Mr. and Mrs. James Subjack, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wright, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Witherow.
Sandy Anderson and Jean Kelsey, trip co-chairs, reported that the trip to Branson is finalized and paid for. There will be a trip to Presque Isle Casino and horse races on Monday, Oct. 20. Reservations for that trip are due Friday, Sept. 19. The trip to see the lights at Hartwood Acres will be on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
New member Art Thomas was made welcome.
