Camp Onyahsa, located on more than 120 acres on the shores of Chautauqua Lake, has several upcoming events to offer including a yard-sale fundraiser and Battle of the Businesses as well as specialty and weekend camps.

The yard sale will raise money for the camp and its scholarship programs.

''We're accepting donated household items for the sale,'' Jon O'Brian, the camp director, said Monday. ''Items should be general merchandise items that are non-food or non-clothing.''

O'Brian said donations are being taken at the Jamestown YMCA, located at 101 E. Fourth St., until Friday, Aug. 29.

''We'll bring them up to the camp and price them, so all folks need to do is just drop off their unwanted items,'' he said.

For more information on the yard sale fundraiser, call Bev Lubi at the Jamestown YMCA at 664-2802, ext. 238.

BATTLE OF THE BUSINESSES

On Sept. 13 beginning at 11:30 a.m., Onyahsa will play host to the 21st annual Battle of the Businesses.

The Battle of the Businesses is a series of athletic events in which employees represent their companies by competing against employees from similarly-sized businesses.

This year's events include one-pitch softball tournament; nine-hole golf scramble; tennis doubles tournament; bowling; coed volleyball; inner tube water polo; pool 8-ball doubles; 800-medley running relay; predicted mile walk; team dodge ball; basketball hot shot competition; 2-mile run/walk; punt, pass, and kick; archery; paddling; and bean bag toss.

Events at Camp Onyahsa will include the canoe/kayak; punt, pass and kick; and archery events.

AN INDIAN SUMMER

The camp will also feature an Indian Summer camp between Oct. 11 and 13 in one of the camp's new heated lodges.

For children ages 7-12, the camp will feature canoeing, sports, crafts, campfires, skits and many of the camp's more traditional activities.

The camp will be held from 2:30 p.m. Oct. 11 through 6 p.m. Oct. 13. Cost is $95 for members and $100 for potential members.

For more information, call the camp at 753-5244.

CAMP-OUTS

Every month during the school year, Camp Onyahsa holds weekend camp-outs. Each of the camp-outs runs from Saturday morning to early Sunday afternoon and will include outdoor and heated indoor camp activities geared for the weather. Campers will reside in Onyahsa's heated Sheldon Lodge.
