JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
A 17-year-old Dunkirk youth was charged with petit larceny Tuesday, following an alleged incident at Quality Markets on Foote Avenue. Police say the youth stole several items from the store as well as several pieces of clothing from multiple stores in the Chautauqua Mall. Lakewood-Busti Police were notified about the alleged crime in their jurisdiction and the youth was taken to Jamestown City Jail. The youth was released on bail and will appear in city court later.
David M. Rutherford, 43, was charged with petit larceny Tuesday, following an alleged incident at Farm Fresh Foods on West Third Street. Police say they responded to the scene on a report of a person running from the store with steaks and shrimp that were not paid for. Police say they located Rutherford on Fourth Street where he was taken to the city jail. The food allegedly was found in brush near Porter Avenue.
Joyce S. Newkirk, 31, of Jamestown, was charged with third-degree assault Tuesday following a reported domestic dispute at a Forest Avenue residence. Police say that during an argument, Newkirk grabbed a frying pan and struck a male victim over the head with it, causing a two-inch cut. The victim refused treatment for the injury and Newkirk was taken to the city jail awaiting arraignment.
SOUTHERN TIER REGIONAL DRUG TASK FORCE
Raymond D. Allen, 30, of Nashville, Tenn., was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession with intent to sell a controlled substance Monday, following an investigation by task force agents. Officers say Allen sold crack to undercover agents several times. He was taken into custody by Jamestown Police without incident. He will appear in city court later.
Shane M. Messere, 30, of 213 Barrows St., Jamestown, was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession with intent to sell a controlled substance Monday, following an investigation by task force agents. Officers say he sold cocaine to undercover agents on several occasions. He was taken into custody by Jamestown Police without incident. He will appear in city court later.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
Richard E. Graham, 42, of Jamestown, turned himself in to Jamestown Police on Tuesday following an appearance on the county most wanted list for a criminal sale of drugs charge. He is in the county jail waiting to appear in county court.
RIPLEY- Ian S. Trimbath, 22, of Ripley, was charged with second-degree unlawfully dealing with a child and endangering the welfare of a child, following an investigation sparked by a complaint from the county Department of Environmental Health. Deputies say Trimbath allegedly tattooed a 15-year-old girl without an appropriate license. He was taken to the county jail in lieu of $2,000 bail and will appear in court later.
STOCKTON- Christopher J. Davis, 23, of North Carolina, was charged with second-degree sexual abuse Tuesday. Deputies allege he sexually abused a 13-year-old female at a residence on Route 60. He was located walking on Bachelor Hill Road and taken into custody without incident. He was arraigned in Portland court and sent to the county jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.
WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT
Mark N. Sam, 44, of 57 Union Street, Westfield, was charged with resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration Tuesday, following a traffic stop. Around 12:15 a.m., police say Sam jumped out of a pulled over vehicle and ran due to an outstanding State Police warrant for two counts of stalking, second-degree criminal contempt and first-degree criminal contempt. Assisted by Chautauqua County Sheriff's Deputies, Westfield Police subdued Sam, and he was taken into custody. He was sent to the county jail on $5,000 bail and is awaiting arraignment.
Richard Bausum, 42, of Westfield, was charged with second-degree harassment Tuesday. Police say he was charged after investigating a claim that he choked another person. He was issued an appearance ticket and released. He will appear in village court later.
SALAMANCA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Anson C. Bova, 22, of Salamanca, was charged with resisting arrest, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation felony DWI, drinking in a motor vehicle and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle Tuesday, following a high-speed chase which led into Carrollton. Bova was processed and released after posting $500 bail. He will return to Salamanca court on Aug. 22.
Darla Homan, 43, of Salamanca, was taken into custody Wednesday on an arrest warrant stemming from a charge of second-degree harassment. She was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in court later.
Andrew S. Phearsdorf, 19, of Killbuck, was charged with not wearing a seatbelt and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation Wednesday following a traffic stop. He was processed and released to appear in court later.
Deon R. Maull, 19, of Olean, was taken into custody on bench warrants from both Salamanca and Olean. After Maull was taken to the Salamanca Police Station and processed, he was taken to Olean where he faced other charges.
STATE POLICE
AT WARREN
Jason L. Wilson, 27, of Warren, was taken into custody Tuesday on a warrant that was issued after a criminal complaint was filed. Police say he reported a burglary and assault on Aug. 9, but evidence and lack of information provided led police to believe the crimes didn't occur. Wilson was arraigned and taken to Warren County Jail.
Shelby A. Zurcher, 21, of Warren, was charged with writing bad checks Wednesday after a criminal complaint was received that she issued a check for $375 in May for her rent, then stopped payment on the check.
Richard Hamilton, 41, of Warren, was charged with trespassing and public drunkenness after officers responded to a Madison Avenue residence at the report of Hamilton pounding on the door. Police say on May 15, he was issued a letter of trespass to stay away from the residence. He was released to a friend and issued two additional citations.
