Staff Sgt. David William Textor, 27, died in a vehicle accident in Mosul, Iraq, Tuesday, July 15, 2008, in support of combat operations while proudly serving with Company A, 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne).
David was born Sept.14, 1980, in Jamestown, N.Y., and grew up in Randolph, N.Y., where he attended school. David joined the military in May 2002. He was an accomplished and highly decorated soldier who loved his job and wanted to defend his county. The only thing David loved more than his work was his family. David was a great father, brother and son.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Viola and Fred Covedill, and Christine and Ellsworth Textor; infant sister, Lisa; and uncles: Skip Covedill and Henry Textor.
David is survived by his wife, Colette and their five children: Caleb, McKenna, Ryan, Boden and Jadon of Olympia, Wash.; his father, William Textor of Pine City, Minn., and his mother and step-father, Jennie and Kevin Linberg of Roanoke, Va.; stepgrandparents, Chuck and Molly Lindberg of Randolph, N.Y.; his five older sisters: Laurie (Keith) Yehlik, Michelle (Ryan) Krawczyk, Terra Textor, Ka-rin Textor and Kellie Textor; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
David touched the lives of everyone he met and will be greatly missed but always remembered.
David will be laid to rest in Buckhill Cemetery, Fair-banks, Alaska. A memorial service will be held at the American Legion in Ran-dolph, N.Y. on Saturday, July 26th at 11 a.m.
