Collecting Memories Of Celoron Park

June 17, 2008
The public is invited to ‘‘Postcards of Celoron Park,’’ a presentation by former resident Tom Goodwill, at 7 p.m. today at the Fenton History Center, 67 Washington St., Jamestown.

’’I’m hoping for the chance to meet people who have photos, memorabilia, and memories that I can collect for a possible publication,’’ Goodwill said.

Goodwill is collecting the community’s stories about the Coney Island of Chautauqua County. Goodwill will give a brief history of the park and show slides from a large collection of postcards and photographs that will bring the park to life.

‘‘Mr. Goodwill is hoping to gather the community’s memories of Celoron Park,’’ said Joni Blackman, Joni Blackman, Fenton History Center director. ‘‘If someone has a story to share, it would be great if they would write it down along with their contact information so he can begin to collect the personal accounts of our early amusement park. He is also looking for photographs for his collection.’’

A scanner will be set up to share the photographs. The public is welcome to to attend. For more information, call the Fenton History Center at 664-6256 or visit
