Seniors Set Meeting, Events

Cassadaga-Stockton-Lily Dale Senior Citizens will meet Monday, July 14 for a potluck picnic in the legion picnic grounds. Committee members are Auleen Robinson and Mary Ann Haines. Those attending should take beverages, table settings, a tablecloth and dish to pass. A silent auction will be held.
Fifty-four members attended a recent dinner meeting in the American Legion, Cassadaga. Kitchen committee members Mickey Hamilton and Mary-Ann Haines were thanked. The Rev. Richard Hamilton gave the blessing. The meeting opened with a flag salute and song.
Reports given by Vivian Gow, secretary, and Florine Christy, treasurer, were approved.
Future events include a trip to see the production of Wicked at Shea’s, Buffalo, June 19; strawberry socials on June 20 in the Stockton Community Church and June 21 in the Cassadaga Community Baptist Church; and a Medieval dinner theater at the Riverside Inn, Cambridge Springs on Sept. 28.
Ms. Christy spoke on a trip to New Hampshire, Oct. 19 to 22, sponsored by the village of Westfield, and Charlie Reading stated it is possible to purchase cancellation insurance for overnight trips.
Carm Frame read a letter from Judge Judith Clare regarding programs given by the Family Court.
Discussion was on a $50 payment for each meeting held in the Legion Picnic Grounds, motioned by John Sipos, seconded by Ken Wise. Also discussed was the Aug. 11 annual chicken barbecue in the picnic grounds. Members with paid up dues will not pay for lunch; guests, $5. Each person attending will be charged $1 to help cover the cost of using the picnic grounds.
David Christy, of Jordan’s Funeral Home, Sinclairville, spoke on pre-planned funerals.
Celebrating birthdays were Louise Paige, Ruth Swanson, Ken Wise, Lena Elliott, Marge Carlson and Larry Carlson. Vivian and Bill Gow observed their 50th wedding anniversary.
