Tops Markets Names New CFO

WILLIAMSVILLE — Tops Markets LLC recently appointed Kevin Darrington senior vice present and chief financial officer.

In his new role, Darrington is responsible for the direction, control and coordination of all finance and information technology activities for Tops Markets, supporting the company’s continued growth and independence from its former owner, Ahold USA.

‘‘Kevin brings 18 years of retail finance experience and a broad knowledge base to the table,’’ said Frank Curci, Tops president and chief executive officer. ‘‘He will be an important member of the executive team, and we’re glad to have him aboard.’’

Darrington’s most recent position was senior vice president and chief accounting officer for Pathmark Stores Inc. There, he was responsible for overseeing all accounting functions including U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission reporting, and income tax and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Previous to his tenure at Pathmark Stores, he served as chief financial officer for Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy Inc. in Boulder, Colo. Prior to that, Darrington worked for Foot Locker Inc. for seven years, including three years as vice president and corporate controller, managing Foot Locker’s Worldwide Financial Service.

Darrington is a certified public accountant. He earned a master’s degree in finance from Temple University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana University.
