Farman Library Set For Reading Program

ELLINGTON — The Farman Free Library in Ellington is getting ready to kick off its summer reading program for 2008. This year’s theme is ‘‘Catch the Reading Bug.’’
The library will be running with a different format than in the past. The program will begin on Monday, July7. Children will be divided into two groups by age. The younger group will meet on Mondays during the program from 9 to 10 a.m. The older group will meet Tuesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. and the library is hoping to have special presenters on Wednesdays for all groups. Renee Pye and Skip Roberts will be back with the library again this year.
The reading program will conclude Wednesday, Aug. 13, with a cook out and picnic at the library before the annual Friend and Family Campfire.
Watercolor artist Nancy Whitermore will instruct the fine arts program Wednesday afternoons from 3 to 4:30 p.m. This program runs from July 9 to Aug. 6 and regular attendance is essential. Space is limited so those planning to attend must register. This is open to people age 9 and up.
Registration forms for both the summer reading and the fine arts programs are available at the library.
Other upcoming events are Monday, May 26: Memorial Day, library closed; Saturday, May 31: Kid Crafts, 10 to 11 a.m., Story Hour, 11 a.m. to noon.; Saturday, June 7: library book sale 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturday, June 14: adult crafts 10 to 11:30 a.m.; Saturday, June 21: summer program decorations and props building day 10 a.m. to noon; Saturday, June 28, summer reading kickoff with kids’ crafts, 10 to 11 a.m., story hour, 11 to noon.
The Farman Free Library’s hours are: Mondays and Wednesdays 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursdays 2 to 7 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon, and closed on Fridays and Sundays. The library can be reached by calling 287-3694 or e-mailing farmanfreelib@excite.com.
