We never learn from our mistakes. Let's outlaw alcohol...didn't work.....let's outlaw weed......still not working....every pres since the 60's has tried to create peace in the Middle East....will never work. Past mistakes are only used to prove the party in charge at the time should not be reelected in the next election.

PS, Just to clarify, I meant less than half as a percentage of the Federal budget. About 40% under JFK, less than 20% in recent years.

If the butchering barbarians of ISIS would come to this author's front door, maybe then he would realize how dangerous a terrorist army and possible terrorist state in Iraq is to the world. The big mistake is Obama sitting back, when he could help with air strikes. If he lets Iraq collapse into another pre-9/11 Afghanistan, it will be the worst foreign policy failure of the past 30 years. FYI military spending today is less than half of what it was in the Kennedy Administration, so liberals' constant whining that there is still too little social spending is ridiculous. Credence is right on.

Tim, There is no poverty (L.B. Johnson took care of it already! Yeah, right). Now there is no middle class because the current regime has forced each family thereof to support a second family of sluggards.
