I was a 911 dispatcher in Texas for a couple of Sheriff and Police Departments as well as Austin EMS for 10 years. It was with out a doubt the most rewarding job I have ever had in my life. We were called the First First Responders. I loved helping people and being the first to know what was going on. It was rewarding to know that I was responsible for the safety of the public and the responders and that their lives depended on how I did my job. It took lots of training and a calm head and manner but at the end of the day, as long as every one went home safely, I could sleep well at night.
