Jamestown will NEVER succeed at ANYTHING until the council and mayor grow a backbone and not just fellate any business that rolls into town.

Waterfront development could save this city. Where are your principles? Oh that's right, cast into the scrap pile.

<<The paving of a high percentage of the site is supposed to alleviate the airborne pollution generated by the business' operations.>>

What is more porous? Soil or pavement? Wouldn't this create MORE dust blowing into neighborhoods and the River?

They need to move this scrap yard to a more remote area where there are no rivers or lakes, or bodies of water, or neighborhoods... period.

The vision for a connected Riverwalk is being realized, and this area could finally become a recreational asset to the community. While blacktopping reduces dust, it also increases surface run-off. If the Weitsman owners are as community-minded as they say, maybe they would be open to swapping for a more appropriate and more convenient location within the city.

The location of the scrapyard is counter-productive to what the City invision for a the River Walk Project. I suggest the City offer the land to Weitman that the Jones Memorial Park is located on Jones and Gifford Ave. The land "swap" would benefit both entities.
