There is no incentive for people to change. In some states you do not receive benefits unless you have a job and are earning 135% above the poverty level. Benefits stop when you are earning 400% above the poverty level. If you are able bodied and do not want to work you come to NY State to live and will never leave. Why would you? Community funders like the United Way cannot accept the reality of our community and that throwing money at problems such as the ones we have in our community will make us feel better and we can pretend they will go away.We will never have the resources for that.Though immoral and unethical,if they took the money away they would see how really bad things get.Stemming the tide is often the best we can do especially if as a community we are ignorant about who we are becoming.Well meaning people often have their blinders on preventing them from seeing the big picture.Hoping they can increase their awareness but if they have to bring in an expensive outside moderator I am concerned moving forward.
