Hey lonerider. Education itself is a progressive endeavor. Education makes one a liberal. Ignorance makes one a "conservative". The easiest way to not progress is to remain uneducated. Fortunately, our country has a long history of being progressive…albeit with bouts of stagnation throughout periods of conservative control.

"However, Democrats raised concerns about whether such a proposal would jeopardize the state's share of the federal Race to the Top grants." Business as usual, more concerned about their grants than whats best for the kids.

This do-nothing bill is nothing but smokescreen and mirrors by the Assembly Democratic Majority who are running scared for their jobs. It does absolutely nothing to relieve the pain and pressure kids are under, and absolutely nothing to remove the rotton-to-the-core curriculum from our schools. They are trying to save face by making it look like they are actually doing something because it's an election year and they know that supporting CC could cost them their jobs when furious citizens go to the polls later this year! DO NOT be fooled by this or any of Gov Cuomo's rhetoric either! The Dems are firmly behind CC and will not do anything meaningful to get rid of it! Go here to support the removal of this horrible abuse of power from our schools and see who REALLY wants to help our kids: ***********fixnyschools****/author/admin/

People are so quick to lump all teachers together and accuse them ALL of being the reason kids aren't doing well in school. Teachers only have our children in their care for 6hrs a day, 30hrs a week. What happens with the other 126hrs per week that kids aren't in school? Do parents and other family members get a free pass? We don't have to educate our own kids, cause that is the "teacher's job". Bull Crap!!! That is what is wrong with society now. Entitlement is running rampant. Grow up people! I know several teachers that feel horrible for their students because of this "new way" of teaching with the Common Core. It's awful hard to help your 3rd grader with their math homework when you don't even understand the way they are expected to do it. Kids who have excelled and loved school are beginning to stress and hate school because of this Common Core. I think every person should look up some of the math problems that are included in the Common Core and see how fast

Maybe King wants his children educated someplace where teachers are actually accountable and kids are held to a higher standard.

commissioner King does not send his children to public schools to be taught common core and openly admits it. Why not? Yet Joe Public better and like it. B.S.!!
