"eminent danger of collapsing"? The word is imminent. Come on PJ, hire a copy editor. This is not the first time writers haven't known the difference between eminent and imminent.

Vince is right to take a more aggressive approach to getting the money from owners. No it's not fair for city taxpayers to foot the bill and even less fair for the county taxpayers to pay a part of it (land banking)Does city council get reports on the success of these attorney's in getting their money from the owners? How much was recovered last year?

I am encouraged to see someone who finally gets it. Yes tear down these eye sores, but more importantly, aggressively pursue these owners who think they get a free pass. 25 homes to be torn down in 2014 is aggresive and hopefully some money will be recouped.

25 is a great start, but I don't think that number comes close to equaling the number of occupants in the Appleyard mansions. I thought there was a study suggesting that when new projects go up, an equal number should come down.

snottynosepunk: why are you such a negative, vicious person? What happened in your life to create such a mean personality?

Bill all the owners of these properties for the demolition costs and back taxes and when they don't pay report them to the credit bureaus.

Maybe in some cases, the property owner may just need some help. It is possible. Anyway I believe there is always the opportunity to allow those without the resources to move into "AppleYards". No pressure yhen.
