All Lakewood ever seems to do is discuss and table discussions. Decisions never seem to be made.

IraqVet - Your intentions seem honest and forthright and I thank you for your service. I would beg you to consider this. As the history of one war buries another individual recognition of one war over the other may seem trivial. It's not, I lost my Dad two years ago. A proud Navy veteran, wounded twice in combat and saw many of his closet friends die one by one to horrors he refused to speak of. He was very proud of his service, but not of the Veterans Administration whi slowly turned their backs as more "important" wars came and went. Washington DC doesn't have one park set aside for all the veterans of all the wars. Each one holds its own signifigance in history and should be duly honored as such.

Tony, left out many details. There was never any intent to have the sign in place by Veterans day or Pearl harbor day 2013. The truth was Memorial day 2014. Yes a suitible location was being looked into but we wanted room for growth to honor our other vets from other wars for future dedications. The villiage board did not shoot down the location on the beach the original location was not suitible for our future dedications. Neither the Library or the other locations were suitible for our plans. I would like to thank everyone involvement in this project. I understand how important it is in doing this right, I too have served 21 years in the military and as a combat vetin Iraq. Commander Post 1286 American Legion

Tony, Sure wish you would of listed the names of those who rejected it, A Wall of Shame with their names listed would be a reminder to all who these jerks were.

Mr. Barone, you have nothing to apologize for. Thank you for your dedication to this very worthwhile project.

I am curious on why these sites were rejected by the various boards. Seems to me that the Memorial Park would be the appropriate place for a World War II memorial.

Mr. Barone is highly dedicated to this cause and everyone is for the memorial. However, the most appropriate, reverent location for the Veterens Memorial is still being discussed. The Memorial has not been rejected....only the proposed locations have been considered inappropriate. It will find a worthy location. Thank you to Mr. Barone for your dedication to these veterans.

That is ridiculous! These six board members must really have something wrong with them! I don't live in Lakewood and I'm ashamed of these people!

They should tear down that stupid clock in the middle of the road that is a traffic hazard. I would love to see a WWII monument that you could see over instead. Thank you for your letter.
