Funny how if it were "talk of the town", no one that I know has talked about it. Merely an opinion, plain and simple.

The ones who support truth are the exciting ones, ones to be watched, ones to be dared, ones to be criticized or even ostracized for representing it. Happened to another person in our history, such shame.

I, too, was at the forum. I found Ms. Nelson's behavior a bit frightening. In my opinion she did not merely approach the stage but rushed at the moderator, hands flailing. She seemed out of control.

Commissioner King may be familiar with Mass. standards, but are you familiar with the woman who wrote the standards. Dr. Sandra Stotsky wrote the standards for Mass., which made them the top in our nation. Are you aware of the fact that Dr. Stotsky sat on the validation committee for the common core as the only content specialist for ELA and then refused to sign off on the standards themselves. The only other content specialist Dr. James Milgram for math, also refused to sign off on the standards. There are so many others who at first considered the common core to be a beneficial program, but have since had a change of heart and are speaking out against it. Principal if the year Carol Buris would be another one.

With that said, the moderator WAS quite terrible at the forum. This woman, her name escapes me, is the president of the League of Women Voters. As a moderator, she was extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. She was clapping and nodding at comments, when she should be staying neutral. She was very chastising and condescending to the audience when there was cheering, which was very minimal, as most support was silent standing. She treated the audience of grown adults as if they were misbehaving children. If she is the president of this group and represents them as a whole, then I am sure Susan B Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton are a little ashamed of what they fought so hard to accomplish.

I was at the forum in Jamestown, and the rules for time and procedure were clearly laid out at the beginning. Ms. Nelson is probably upset because she did surpass her allotted time(yelling "I only have one more paragraph"), and got cut off, had her mike turned off (as did a few others who did not stop at their allotted time), then approached the stage shaking her fist and yelling. It was when the two JPD officers began to make their way to the front of the auditorium that she finished surprisingly quickly and returned to her seat. Her comments about fascism and referring to Comissioner King as Judas and his thirty pieces of silver were not productive criticisms, simply inflammatory remarks. If anything, Ms. Nelson's performance removed any credibility she has left, and really showed how out of touch SHE is with education. It was a shame that she was one of the first speakers to set the tone for the evening, and a shame that she was how the rest of the speakers are being paint

Instinkgator-Every morning I read your IDIOT remarks. Referencing Commissioner King as a Nazi is idiocy. Ms. Nelson- Our Chancellor Emeritus said he had never attended a meeting with such a rude and unruly crow. How nice of the "fine" residents to display such behavior publicly. This is the 21st century and Commissioner king is quite familiar with Mass. movements including its' adoption of Common Core. He worked in the state while this was going on. Unfortunately you have Common Core and all of its' perifery muddled together. The Common Core set of standards are most acceptable it is often and more likely that the elements of APPR, SLO, newly developed curricula, data driven instruction/outcomes, and professional development to implement all this. It is no longer business as usual and it has upset many many people. The past has been repaired where the assessment scoring and testing were so watered down school districts and parents could not truly tell if a child was learning

The League in Chautauqua County, for the most part, consists of Democrat activists. Does that explain it?
