December 25, 2013

We understand why Charlie Brown gets a little depressed during the Christmas season. If you’re one of the few people who hasn’t seen A Charlie Brown Christmas, here’s a quick primer....

No, Mel, but the first amendment guarantees freedom of religion which means the state cannot promote one religion over another. The state does not silence religious expression and instruction, it simply does not allow the promotion of one religion over others, as you want to do. You have the right to indoctrinate the children in church, at home and anywhere else that is not supported by taxpayer dollars, taxpayers who include people of other faiths and those who have no religious beliefs. If you are unable to indoctrinate the children in church and at home, why do you think that public school teachers will be able to?

Separation of church and state, a phrise not found in the Constitution and distorted by liberals and progressives, is code for repression by government on schools to silence religious expression and instruction. Nothing in the Constitution gives the federal government any authority or say over education.

Eagles, what point do you think he was trying to make when he was lamenting that he couldn't read the Bible to the kids?

Feel free to apply the last sentence of your post to yourself.

I've read apologetics posts a couple times.

Monkey...could you point out where he said anything about separation of church and state? It's not there. Just like your accusations of racism toward 50s. There's a difference between being a 'low-information' person and just a plain ol' troublemaker.

Yes, Linus got it! Wasn't that scene at a rehearsal for a school play? I went to a government run school in the area and saw the word Christmas but not a single sign that it was Christ. I read to students in several 2nd grade classes and when I exited the last classroom I was in a boy in my Sunday class saw me and was startled to see me. He wondered what I was doing in his school. I told him that I was reading to the students. Then, he asked, "Did you read them the Bible?" That stopped me in my tracks. Sadly, I had to answer him no. I wish I could have been Linus that day.
