Griffin-You forgot that Ripley had joined Chau. Lake before the MG merger. So it's MG/CLCS/CVCS/Ripley

Great comments. If sports becomes the model for the common-sense approach towards mergers then it will have a historic significance that will improve education and lower taxes. The only ones opposing are the parents of athletes who might lose playing time in a new structure and the teachers and administrators making all the high salaries - and both of those motivated factions can probably overcome the apathetic culture of accepting 18 school districts, 29 municipalities, however many libraries, police forces, fire departments...IN A COUNTY OF 130,000 PEOPLE - 130,000 people! most (modern) communities that size probably have one of each - maybe two.

Sports is just a microcasm of everything else. Numbers are getting too low to offer electives, AP, College courses ect..If you look around the country its very unusual to find an area with our population and size to have as many schools and small class sizes as it does. Should only be 5 or 6 high schools in this county.

Dark77,

It's about fielding a team more than it is building an all-star team. CV will be right on the NYS limit line for min players thats 18. MG is at the same level or below.

Sports are important, but instead of talking "sports mergers" shouldn't we really be talking and moving forward with "School Mergers"?

Here come the mergers to creat the super teams to win state championships.....does cass valley really need to merge? Mg wants them to go to class c to get away from Randolph.....this is only the beginning...how long before we see this every year and changes every year to combine with the best athletes....maybe they should combine with bemus and share test scores then there appr will look better with the new common core
