Lone, I just got tickets for a Yankee game in July. I hope that Mandela statue isn't in my line of sight.

And I agree with the stalking comment. It is just another LIE. 21 hours of posting means a minimum of post every hour. So, the Pitts continues his lying ways. But, his hero is a liar so he probably feels it's ok.

Is it still in centerfield, or did they move it so they can play?

Was that Boston marathon bomber up for a plaque in Beantown? Maybe they could make a plaque out of him? Remember the sidewalk urinals the French were fond of?

That's ridiculous. I stand corrected. Since they have no criteria recognizable why not add Mandela? And pit. It could be in honor of protectors of blogs in one horse towns.

I had to look it up, but the icons of baseball had been honored at Yankee stadium. Incl Robinson, Ruth, etc. Mandella gave a speech there (old stadium) saying "I am a Yankee". I guess that impresses people.

You expressed your opinion pit, I'm expressing mine. Mandela had nothing to do with baseball, and a plaque for Robinson might be appropriate, but even that is questionable. He was a great player, but no Ted Williams. One more color coded celebration is not what is needed in this country.

"the Yankees have announced that a statue of Mandela will be placed in centerfield of the stadium"

OK Pitts - I apologize - you didn't say "in the middle of center field" Just IN CENTERFIELD. MSNBC got that one wrong too!

Won't that make it hard to play a game? I would think a statue in the middle of centerfield would inter fear with play. Are you sure you have "your facts" right?

Oh and Pitts, the picture shows the CLASS of your president. I could care less what Michelle was thinking or doing. Taking a selfie at a funeral is nothing short of classless. Too bad Miley Cyrus wasn't with him - she could have tweaked him.

I wonder why Lowery didn't speak at Obama's second term and blast him for not ending poverty and racism, and for continuing Bush's wars? Look up Booker T. Washington's comments about professional racists.

gravel - for once try and look something up on your own. All you have to do is google - Jimmy Carter Coretta King funeral - and a whole new world will open up for you.

Oops, he did it again (Jimmy Carter cheapens Coretta Scott King's funeral)Posted on 02/08/2006 6:55:29 AM PST

How low has James Earl Carter sunk? It took Bill Clinton – the man who lied under oath during a legal deposition, the man who had sex with that woman before he did not have sex with that woman, the man who had bin Laden’s head on a platter but thought more golfing was in order, the first elected President to be impeached – it took Bill Clinton to restore a modicum of dignity at the funeral of Coretta Scott King.

During his remarks at Mrs. King’s funeral yesterday, the wrinkled friend of dictators and despots implicitly lashed President George W. Bush (who was seated a few feet away) for wiretapping those who would murder innocents. He mentioned the hardships Dr. King and Mrs. King endured because of the wiretapping and equated it with the current surveillance.

I should have said it was broadcast in its entirety by most TV stations live. I said video because I suspect it was archived as such since we don't use film anymore. Did you watch it through biased eyes and miss the low class conduct? Of course you may have lower expectations than a conservative.

"your interpretation of a "video" may not be an accurate account--as your view is from a partisan position. You have every right to your opinion on "class acts" and who is or is not classless".

Pitts: I dare you to google - Obama Selfie. You will see for yourself how your president acts at a funeral.I guess if a Republican acted that way you'd be up in arms about how little class that person showed.

It is not totally false. It's a matter of fact that was video coverage of the funeral. You might argue the last sentence, but the absolute fact is it happened.

Seadog-the Dems don't miss an opportunity. Remember at Coretta King's funeral the disgusting politicking by both Clinton and Carter showing animosity toward sitting President George W? They have no class but low.

What a class act!!

"President Obama took a selfie during the memorial service for Nelson Mandela. British Prime Minister David Cameron and Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning Schmidt also appeared in the photo with Obama. To Obama’s left, looking less than thrilled about the moment was first lady Michelle Obama".

loner-they weren't much. But I wanted some idea of what the man was since outside the news media. It was revealing. He reminds me of Clinton. You know he's lying, but he makes it sound good. I force myself to read stuff like Alinsky, Mao, Hitler, as well as most presidents.

What are you looking for? Our revolution was set in motion by terrorists? Would I be justified in terrorizing the Democratic party and call it fighting oppression? What's the difference?
